Carbon Credits for Farmers via OneRoot

Pilot-to-Scale Program + Digital MRV

Design, launch, digitize, and commercialize a carbon program for OneRoot.

Prepared for: OneRoot

Prepared by: ClimateWise.Today

Date: January 2026

Executive Summary

What OneRoot Already Has

  • Farmer rails: Established network and transaction infrastructure
  • Traceability + transparency: Proven positioning in supply chain visibility
  • Advisory stack: Satellite + soil proxies for farm intelligence
  • Digital products: Markhet, Markhet Farmer, WhatsApp assist

The Opportunity

Carbon credits as a strategic lever for:

  • Farmer retention: Additional revenue stream keeps farmers engaged
  • Buyer premium: Low-carbon sourcing commands higher prices
  • New revenue: Carbon credits unlock additional income streams

Our Offer

Design, launch, digitize, and commercialize a carbon program.

Positioned as "Carbon Program + MRV + Product Integration" consultant, tightly integrated with OneRoot's existing Markhet / Markhet Farmer apps + WhatsApp assist.

Outcomes

  • Pilot-ready program: Credit-eligible program (VM0042/SOC track) for 1-2 crop clusters
  • MRV blueprint: Audit-grade MRV system with data chain-of-custody
  • App flows: Digital adoption flows integrated into Markhet + Farmer app + WhatsApp
  • Buyer/offtake pack: Commercial pathway secured (offtake / insetting premium / pre-finance)

What is a Carbon Project?

A carbon project is an initiative designed to reduce or remove greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the atmosphere. In agriculture, these projects focus on implementing sustainable farming practices that sequester carbon in soil and vegetation, generating measurable and verifiable carbon credits that can be traded or sold.

Key Components:

  • Baseline Measurement: Establishing the current carbon stock before project implementation
  • Practice Changes: Adoption of regenerative practices (cover crops, reduced tillage, organic inputs)
  • MRV System: Measurement, Reporting, and Verification to quantify carbon sequestration
  • Credit Issuance: Verified carbon credits issued by recognized registries (Verra, Gold Standard)

Carbon Project Flow

Carbon Project Flow - From Project Origination to Buyer

Complete carbon project lifecycle: from origination through methodology check, PDD development, validation, registration, project execution, verification, and credit issuance to buyers.

Project Types in Agriculture Land

🌱

Soil Carbon Sequestration

Practices that increase soil organic carbon storage

Cover Crops & Rotation

Planting cover crops between cash crops to add organic matter and prevent soil erosion. Diverse crop rotations improve soil health.

Reduced/No-Till Farming

Minimizing soil disturbance preserves soil structure and keeps carbon locked in the ground instead of released to atmosphere.

Organic Matter Addition

Applying compost, manure, and biochar increases soil organic carbon while improving fertility and water retention.

Agroforestry Integration

Integrating trees with crops sequesters carbon in both soil and biomass while providing additional income streams.

Carbon Potential: 0.5-2.0 tCO₂e/acre/year depending on practices and baseline conditions. SOC projects typically have 5-10 year crediting periods.

Why OneRoot Can Win in Carbon (as-is)

Strengths to Leverage
